College is an exciting and challenging time. At Ros Geal, students live in a congenial, inviting atmosphere and have every opportunity to mix with students from other faculties, countries, and cultures making the best of their time in college. Ros Geal is also a place to develop your ideas and understanding of the world in which we live. Students attend and help organise seminars on topics of interest to themselves and fellow students.
GUEST SPEAKERS & STUDENT SEMINARS
Guest speakers are invited to speak on a variety of topics and issues, giving students the opportunity to explore alternative career paths and broaden their knowledge of different global issues. Students can participate in “Can do Can U” a national student volunteer seminar run in cooperation with Glenard Student Residence in Dublin. Speakers have included Mary Davis former CEO of Special Olympics Ireland, Melanie Vorwoerd former South African Ambassador to Ireland, Dr Angelina Kakooza commentator on the AIDS crisis in Africa.
STUDENT EXCHANGES
Each year students have the opportunity to participate in the UNIV international student congress, organised by ICU and hosted in Rome. The congress invites student exchange on a variety of topics – world peace, cinema, globalisation, communications.
PHILOSOPHY SEMINARS
Plato, Aquinas and Stein, students can delve into the history of Western philosophy given by a host of lecturers during the academic year.
EUROPEAN CINEMA NIGHTS
There are regular European cinema nights offering a real cultural experience of German, French, Italian and Spanish cinema genre. |
